LMS v4.0 Log Files

Attached is the output from Reports> System> Status> Log File.

As you can see I have a number of log files showing their size in RED.

How do I automate getting these smaller?

I have looked at Log Rotation, but none of the files listed in the attached appear in that section.

Is it a case of manaully stopping the Daemon, renaming the log files and then restarting the daemon, or is there a way of automating this housekeeping task?

Thanks

Steve

Re: LMS v4.0 Log Files

Hi Steve,

Ideally there should also be truncated. try re-adding them again .

in the meantime , you can manually trucate the file as below :

NMSROOT/CSCOpx/log >logrot_trunc

LMS v4.0 Log Files

Hi Steve,

All  the files under NMSROOT\CSCOPx\log  should be there under logrotation .

You need to  ADD these files to the current  LOG rotation . configure the size as per your needs.

Note : do not forgot to SECHDULED the JOB.

Re: LMS v4.0 Log Files

Hi Afroj,

Attached is all the files shown in Log Rotation, none of the ones in RED in my original post appear here.

Can I just add them then, and does the following indicate that I already have the job scheduled in which case at 6pm tonight it should then pick up the new ones I add?

C:\Program Files (x86)\CSCOpx\bin>C:\Windows\System32\at.exe

Status ID   Day                     Time          Command Line

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

        1   Each M T W Th F S Su    6:00 PM       C:\PROGRA~2\CSCOpx\objects\logrot\logrotsch.bat

        2   Each M T W Th F S Su    4:30 PM       C:\PROGRA~2\CSCOpx\conf\backupsch.bat

C:\Program Files (x86)\CSCOpx\bin>

Re: LMS v4.0 Log Files

Thats brilliant, thanks Afjoj.

One final Query, I assue I will need to tick "Restart Daemon Manager" in order for it to gain access to the syslog?

Re: LMS v4.0 Log Files

checking on  "Restart Daemon Manager" is not manadatory...

This is optional.

Thats even better then

Will get the logs added, and see what happens tonight.

Thanks again. I'm off tomorrow, so will flag as correct answer on Thursday if all goes well.

Re: LMS v4.0 Log Files

Hi Afroj,

It looks as though that worked a treat, certainly on the syslog file!!

Is there any reason why it didnt touch jrm.log, EDS.log, NameServiceMonitor.log or ESSMonitor.log ? (See attached)
