Log SNMP Information

Hello everyone,

Is there a way to log SNMP information to the local router and download it or access it at a later date? Looking to capture bandwith and CPU utilization as well as any error messages, etc but won't have an SNMP server set up for about a week.

There is no way to log the SNMP information and see it later about the counters as this is real time information.

Do you have a NAM module in your network?

Thanks. No NAM. What's the most I can do to capture information then? Just enable logging buffered?

Logging will capture you to a syslog the console messages. That wont have the counters you are looking for.

I was more thinking that you could run an rsh script from a server or linux end device and get periodically the show interface outputs for example. For that you need to enable rcmd on the router as per :

Or you could enable NBAR on the router and periodically over RSH get the show ip nbar protocol-discovery output that will have the 5 minutes counters per protocol.

Protocol counters also do come handy when you monitor traffic, it gives you a supplemental picture of what's happening.
