Let's say the router is configured with:
logging 10.1.2.3
logging trap errors <--this is level 3
Will the command 'ospf log-adjacency-changes' allow the level 5 message shown below to be sent to the syslog server?
%OSPF-5-ADJCHG:

The logging 10.1.2.3 and logging trap errors commands work together. The first one just says send syslogs to this address, while the second only allows messages at error level or below (0-3) to be sent to that IP address.
The message will not make it

Only the messages level 0-3 will be sent to the syslog server.

I opened TAC case 604054881 on this same issue -
What the TAC engineer told me was this:
if the router is configured with
logging trap errors
and the command
ospf log-adjacency-changes is issued
the %OSPF-5-ADJCHG: message would in fact make it to the syslog server.
Can you please verify because, I need to be 100% sure before I go back to the customer.
Thank you very much

I looked at the case and the engineer said the same thing that I mentioned:
If you have logging the level 3 you wont get messages from level 4 (or higher)

I think "ospf log-adjacency-changes" just logs it to the logging buffer on the router itself.

These messages should be sent to a syslog server if you have something like this configured:
router ospf 1
log-adjacency-changes
logging
--- provided you set the correct logging level
If logging buffered is enabled these messages should go in there, level is important here too

OK. I will inform the customer if the router is configured with
logging trap errors
AND has the
ospf log-adjacency-changes
command entered in the config
The %OSPF-5-ADJCHG: message will not make it to the syslog server.
If this is NOT correct, please let me know.

I'm still confused:
if the router is configured with:
logging 10.1.2.3
logging trap errors
and has this statement configured
ospf log-adjacency-changes
Will the %OSPF-5-ADJCHG: message make it to the syslog server

Thank you.
Sorry for the confusion but I have to be 100% sure.....
