logrot.pl: which logfiles need dmgtd to be stopped

Is there a list available that shows the log files which can only be rotated with dmgtd being stopped? I read in one thread that utm.log is a candidate for this. Or does this depend on the current state of the system like certain processes that are running?

It depends on how the log file is open. The only noted example of a file which requires offline rotation is jrm.log. The log4j managed files should be okay to rotate online, and most logs are now maintained by log4j.

However, if you find that rotating a log causes it to fill up with NUL bytes, then you will need to use offline rotation to properly truncate it.
