Is there a way to notify Ciscoworks users whenever a change of configuration is done on managed devices? I have already enabled "snmp-server enable traps config" on the devices and have also added the hostname of the device and port under Notification Services>SNMP Trap Notification but still I can't receive any email from Ciscoworks. Did I miss any step that's why it won't work? Will Ciscoworks be able to accept traps from devices at the same time translate it in order to notify users?
If you want email notification on config changes, use syslog and RME's automated action feature instead of DFM. First, make sure syslog messages are being sent to the RME server:
logging facility local7
logging trap information
Then, configure an email automated action under RME > Tools > Syslog > Automated Actions. The message patterns you want to match on are %SYS-5-CONFIG and %SYS-5-CONFIG_I (at least for IOS devices). You should look at the existing Config Fetch action (but do NOT modify it) to get a list of patterns for all device types.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
