Memory size discrepancy

Ok, my concern is if my client's router (Cisco 2611XM) really has 128MB or 256MB of DRAM.

If I do a sh ver, I see the following: (I have stripped down the output for brevity)

IOS (tm) C2600 Software (C2600-IK9O3S-M), Version 12.3(6c), RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

.

cisco 2611XM (MPC860P) processor (revision 0x301) with 126976K/4096K bytes of memory.

But if I do a sh c2600, I get:

DIMM Slot 0:

DIMM Type : Dual-bank

DIMM Size : 128MBytes

DIMM Slot 1:

DIMM Type : Dual-bank

DIMM Size : 128MBytes

Am I interpreting it wrongly or is this an IOS bug? We currently cannot do a visual check since it is in a remote location.

Hi,

Your client has a total of 256MB memory. Appears memory above 128MB isn't usable with the IOS version, 12.3 and that's the reason why the show version displays 128MB rather thab 256MB.

Hope that helps!
