MIB for Cisco Switch

HI all,

    I have few doudts on MIB file upload. pls help me.

1) What will be the extension of MIB file  ? *.mib or *.my

2) I am running with 12.2(25)SEB IOS .Is thre any dependency with IOS for downloading MIB file.

3)I have 3560 switch and 2960 switch. Is thre any difference in the MIB file extension.

pls hep its very urgent.

1) this depends, Cisco is using the extension .my others are using .mib;

but the extension is not that important, its the fact that the content is written in correct ASN.1 notation (Abstract Syntax Notation 1).

2) different versions of IOS can support different mibs; have a look at the "IOS Mib locator" to see which mibs are supported by which IOS

you cannot load a mib into an IOS version or device; to get support for specific mibs introduced with a certain IOS release, you have to update the device with this IOS version;

3) no, the mib file extension is allways .my for Cisco mibs
