Monitoring interface discards on a link

Hi: I have a link with two routers each end. I am monitoring interface discards on both the interfaces. If I detect the number of interface discards increasing on a interface, should I expect to the see something on the other interface also? In other words will the interface which is sending the traffic know that a packet that he sent had errors in it at the receiving end?

Thanks

Ravi

Re: Monitoring interface discards on a link

No,

If a packet is discarded, the sending TCP client will request a retransmission. The receiving router does not keep track of packet sequence.

packet are discarded for a number of reasons, please refer to the following troubleshooting guide
