Hi,

I have configured redundant network using two Cisco SG300-28MP 28-port Gigabit Max-PoE Managed Switch through MSTP & it's working fine.

I need OID of MSTP status from which I can monitor which Switch is active and which one is in standby mode.

Please help.

Thanks,

Hi Harsha,

check these OID's:

http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseOID.do?objectInput=1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.500.1.2.1.1.6&translate=Translate&submitValue=SUBMIT

http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseOID.do?objectInput=cRFStatusUnitState&translate=Translate&submitValue=SUBMIT&submitClicked=true

Hello Afroz,

Thanks for your reply.

The tree structure which I find while browsing the switch is different compared to the one you shared.

Also, when I queried for the OID mentioned in your message fetched no data from switch.

Please find the attached snapshot of the SNMP query for the switch.

Thanks,

Harsha

Hi Harsha,

can you installed Net-snmp (download from google ) and then do the SNMP walk and see how it works

looks like  your tool does not have the correct MIB

Thanks-

Hi Afroz,

Can you please brief me the steps for SNMP query like what all the prerequisites I need before querying the switch? currently I'm using My-soft  for querying the switch.

Thanks,

Harsha

you just need to have snmp community string defined on the device

for e.g  snmp-server community <community name > RO/ RW

SNMP WALK syntax::

snmpwalk -v2c -c <community name > <ip address>  <OID>

As you said, its throwing an error "OID cannot be resolved through loaded MIB modules".

Please find the attached error snapshot.

Thanks,

Harsha

Hi Allamani,

OID are part of MIBS o they are bundle into  MIB.

if you are specific looking for some OID, you cab google and find it . also use the below link for : OID

Hi Afroz,

I downloaded MIB file from the below link http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/switches/sg300-28mp-28-port-gigabit-max-poe-managed-switch/model.html#~rdtab1

I'm unable to query the OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.500.1.2.1.1.6 through SNMP, kindly help.

Regards,

Harsha
