Proven valid IOS image; invalid TFTP checksum

I am trying to copy a 12.2 IOS image onto my 2522. (It's currently got 12.0(8) but I want it to do IS-IS routing.)

There is a 12.2 image on my PC which I have copied successfully onto my 2502's, my 2521, and one of my 2501's without any probs.

Whenever I copy it onto the 2522, the transfer looks like it's going fine and then when it's time for checksum verification, I get this:

====================

!!!!!!!

[OK - 16505800/16777216 bytes]

Verifying checksum... invalid (expected 0x7081, computed 0x5944)

Flash copy took 0:09:46 [hh:mm:ss]

%FLH: Re-booting system after download

Flash boot: No bootable files found in flash.

File boot failed -- File not accessible

...*** BOOTING ROM IMAGE ***

System Bootstrap, Version 11.0(10c), SOFTWARE

====================

And there it goes, booting right up in Rxboot mode.

I keep a copy of the old 12.0(8) image on my PC, which I copied back onto the 2522 while it was in Rxboot mode and no probs. Good checksum and everything.

Since it comes to the 2522 over an Ethernet crossover link from Sethtek-A which has a serial link to Sethtek-G which shares a token-ring segment with the PC, I also tried copying the 12.2 image straight over the Ethernet link from Sethtek-A (which has that image installed in Flash), but I had the exact same checksum problem.

This 2522 has the same memory as all my other 2500-serieseseses that have the image installed just fine:

====================

Sethtek-J(boot)>sh flash

System flash directory:

File Length Name/status

1 16505800 /c2500-jk8os-l.122-1d.bin [invalid checksum]

[16505864 bytes used, 271352 available, 16777216 total]

16384K bytes of processor board System flash (Read/Write)

Sethtek-J(boot)>

====================

So what's my problem?

And when I tried copying a 12.1(5) image from the same PC, I got this here:

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!

[OK - 16092412/16777216 bytes]

COPY: Text checksum verification failure

TFTP from 10.4.4.100 failed/aborted

Verifying checksum... invalid (expected 0x12CD, computed 0xA1C6)

Flash copy took 0:11:28 [hh:mm:ss]

Sethtek-J(boot)#

Sounds like you have a bad TFTP server. It may be doing ASCII linefeed translation on the binary image. You should try a different TFTP server.

But, it's the same server (3com's 3C Daemon) from which I copied that exact same image onto all the other 2500seseses!

Plus as I said I also copied it via TFTP straight from Router A using the IOS's TFTP service.

The problem seems local to the 2522.

I read it as you copied the image from Router A to the same PC. You're right, you may have a bad flash chip on this 2522. If you can, you might try replacing the flash chip from a working 2522, then re-copy the image to see if that really is the problem.

But, I don't have any other 2522's.

Except, a Flash chip for a 2500-series router is a Flash chip for a 2500-series router is a flash chip for a 2500-series router, correct?

Yes.
