"Unknown Devices" ?

Hi,

When I generate a device list report from CS I notice a lot of unknown devices. Most of these unknown devices seem to be our 2821 routers however cisoworks seems to recognise only a handful of these 2821s? Say for example when I'm making a netconfig job and I list devices under RME@servername the unrecognisable devices have a question mark against them??

Why on earth is Ciscoworks not recognising all our 2821 routers?

Attributes like snmp, telnet are all the same.

I use LMS2.5 on windows 2003.

Any advice is much appreciated?

The first thing I would check would be SNMP credentials. Make sure DCR has the correct read-only community string or SNMPv3 credentials for these unknown 2821s. Then, check the configuration on the device to make sure that the CiscoWorks server is allowed to poll these devices.

Then, go to Device Center in CiscoWorks, and use the SNMP Walk utility to poll sysObjectID for these devices, and make sure you get:
