In RME 3.5, I'm able to run RME> Administration> Custom Reports> select the View, then select Custom Card reports and 'am able to report on and see serial numbers for GBICs on 3550-24s, 3550-48s, 4506s and 4006 switches.
How can I create the same report in LMS 2.6 using a Custom Report Template to report the same information?
Here is the Custom Card Report output from RME 3.5 showing just the GBICs, their serial numbers and such. You may need to copy and paste the output below into notepad or something to view it a little better.
Device Name Card Index Card Type Serial Number SW Version HW Version
I picked one of each of the following models of devices: 3550-24s, 3550-48s, 4506s and 4006 and generated a detailed device report for each using LMS 2.6.
None of them report serial numbers for any GBIC connectors. The 4006 and the 4506 did report on the GBIC modules but did not report on the GBIC connecter connected to that module.
In RME 3.5, I was able to run a Custom Card report and not see the GBIC modules on the 4006 and 4506 devices but was also able to see the GBICs AND their serial numbers. Also, I was able in the Custom Card reports in 3.5 to see the GBIC connector on the remaining models and see the connectors and the serial numbers to the connectors.
This is not going to be an acceptable solution for the customer.
I certainly hope this will be corrected in LMS 3.0. I think it's a very big problem that we've lost this functionality going to the new release.
