Reserving Bandwidth for certain IP range

Hi,

I have two 6509 switches located in two different offices(connected through 40Mbps pipe). And i have to reserve bandwidth of 2Mbps for certain IP range between these offices. how do i accomplish this.

Hi

It does depend on your supervisor and PFC level but if you have a PFC3 card then the 6500 provides something called User Based Rate Limiting. See attached link for more details

Re: Reserving Bandwidth for certain IP range

hi ,

thanks for the information. the actual requirement is to reserve 2mbps bandwidth for the data between Servers located in the locations. can i achieve this using user based rate limiting.

Re: Reserving Bandwidth for certain IP range

User based rate limiting is a bit of a misleading term actually as it is based on source and/or destination IP address so yes this should fit your requirements.
