Hi,

Cisco Works can deliver the required informations.

Have a look at

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/netmgtsw/index.html

for a complete overview of Cisco NMS products.

On the other hand there are standard products like HP Openview and many others giving you also this information.

A little Google search brought up

http://www.slac.stanford.edu/xorg/nmtf/nmtf-tools.html

which have a list of commercial and non-commercial products.

Hope this helps

If that is all you want to do, try one of the entry-mid level network management products like...

OpenNMS (free, installs only on *nix platforms). No pretty map, and requires some tinkering to customize your view, but the acquisition cost may be attractive. http://www.opennms.org

For Cisco-specific open source point solutions see http://cosi-nms.sourceforge.net/alpha-progs.html

SolarWinds' products cover your needs and are pretty widely used. See http://www.solarwinds.net/Index.htm

IPSwitch's What's UP Premium (US$2195 list) is one that has more features and many people like. An evaluation download is available. http://www.ipswitch.com/products/whatsup/index.asp

The Cisco product CiscoWorks LMS will certainly do waht you want - along with 1000 other things. Buying it (at US$20,000 or so) would be overkill for up/down link status monitoring. Likewise the big names like HP OpenView, CA Unicenter, etc. Cisco used to sell an entry level product (CiscoWorks for Windows) but they don't offer that anymore. CiscoWorks Small Network Manaqgent Solution (SNMS) is the successor product but it doesn't appear to be getting much development attention. See http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/sw/cscowork/ps2408/index.html for more info on that.

If this post is helpful, please rate it. Thanks, and Happy New Year!

Hi

If i purchaes cisco works then my purpose fullfill or buy WAN Manager ?.

Thanks

Hi,

Cisco WAN Manager is a software for managing Cisco WAN Switches. It will NOT do what you want.

In case you would like to go forward in the CiscoWorks direction I would advise you to contact a Cisco sales representative. He should find a solution for you and tell you what the costs are.

As already written in a previous post there might be cheaper solutions than CiscoWorks, but it depends also on what you want to do besides link up/down monitoring.

Hope this helps

The Campus Manager component of CiscoWorks will show link status after a fashion but is really not designed for near real time link monitoring. It use the the underlying ANI engine which is more of an asynschronous monitoring tool. The Device Fault Manager component of CiscoWorks is more useful in that regard; but, as I mentioned earlier, is part of a much more comprehensive solution set.

Your inquiry was specific to the fault management domain. CiscoWorks addresses Fault, Configuration, workflow, and other aspects of network management.

As mentioned, the WAN Manager tool is more for Cisco's WAN (e.g., ATM - old Broadcom line) products. It is not for an IP router environment.

Hi

Thanks. i use ciscoworks Campus manager and fault manager also. but from this two module i do not get easily information which i required. yes the link of solution is cheaper and usefull.

but client to know in cisco which exact software offer for this purpose.

as an example cisco works6 offer whats up gold which shows all pc in one frame but in cisco works 2000 no software like this.

any one use of cisco software for this purpose that all router in one frame and can monitor router down or up ?.

thanks

biplob

I believe the closest thing currently available from the Cisco product line is SNMS which includes What's Up Gold 8.0. See http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/rtrmgmt/cw2000/cwsnms/1_5/u_guide/snmswug.htm for some further information. It is limited to 40 or fewer devices.

Cisco appears to have made a conscious decison to move out of the low end network monitoring tools. They address entry level configuration management via applications such as Cisco Network Assistant, but appear to be leaving fault management primarily to third parties.
