router save to default TFTP server when "wr net"ting

ibrunello

strange behaviour.

when I issue the wr net command on a Cisco IOS router, it already proposes me a default tftp server.

AFAIK, this behaviour is common on either CatOS or ASA, but never seen on IOS.

Any hint?

TIA

On ASA/PIX, the device may have "tftp-server [interface] hostname" configured.

"AFAIK, this behaviour is common on either CatOS or ASA"

The issue is w/ IOS, not with ASA.

I usually preset myself tftp-server on ASA ;-).

Maybe IOS broadcasts for a TFTP server on the local subnet similar to what it does during the bootup sequence. :D

the proposed tftp server is far, far away.

and it is one of the former ones, we used till 2 years ago.

some "set bootvar" should change the behaviour, but I cannot find any reference.
