Shutdown port script 2010

We have a great number of switch ports which are not in use and need to be shut. It is preferable to do it from LMS 3.2, if possible.

I have found a script in this forum at https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/176341

Does this script still in use?

Where do I put the script?

Do you have additional information about this script?

Does this script do the job regardless of number of switches and unused ports?

Which IOS is required for the script to work on C2950, 2960, 3750 and (3550 outdated but we still use some of them?)

Thanks beforehand.

You can use RME baseline templates to achieve this:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_resource_manager_essentials/4.3/user/guide/baseline.html#wp1805024

The script you mentioned is only useful when you use EEM on your devices.

Thanks for the info Nael.

I have already generated a list of reports from Campus User Tracking in LMS 3.2.

Am not sure how the procedure works in the link you sent me (RME baseline templates).

I want to be sure about the procedure of the link document since it is business critical situation.

I want to try this on lab switches first but do you have a specific example from RME baseline templates regarding my situation?

Thanks again.

Here is the white paper for using baseline templates that has examples for managing the ports.

Hello,

Thank you all for your reply. I still could not figure out how you can do it in Cisco Works LMS 3.2 RME baseline templates. I even sent a question to TAC team but with no luck to get an answer leading to a solution.

Here is what I needed just to make my question clearer.

We have C3750, 2960, 2950 and 3550 which are operational on different remote sites. There are several hundreds of unused ports on these switches which we need to shutdown. But before shutting down the ports, there is a need to check that every port has been unused or admin up but unused at least for 14 days. This is important. It is something like a script but if one can do it from Cisco Works LMS 3.2 if possible, either by selecting switches or grouping switches by type. I have got some link-guide here in this forum but could not find the solution what I am looking for.

Thanks again.

Greetings
