SNMP: deprecated oid in 12.2 IOS

We are facing a problem due to the oid of ifNUCastPkts (1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.12)

being deprecated in the 12.2 IOS version. Can somebody enlighten me more on why this change was done and which is the other oid that can be substituted for this???

The above oid is howver available in iOS 12.4 and beyond.

Please respond

Re: SNMP: deprecated oid in 12.2 IOS

Deprecated does not mean obsolete. A deprecated object should still work, but you are encouraged to use its replacement (if any). In this case, ifInNUcastPkts is replaced with ifInMulticastPkts and ifInBroadcastPkts from the IF-MIB. This object were deprecated by the IETF most likely because it did not distinguish between broadcast and multicast frames.
