SNMP Monitoring

Hello,

I'm trialing solarwinds to monitor my test network here.

I configured the following command on my router:

snmp-server community private RW

In solarwinds, it asks for the I.P address and SNMP Community String.

When I enter the above fields, i'm getting error messages:

'10.0.0.1' does not respond to SNMP Queries using 'private'

Any steps or configurations which i'm doing wrong here?

Thanks

Check if there's any ACL blocking SNMP traffic to the router.

Try configuring a RO string as well, and see if that makes any difference.

also try to configure the host server

snmp-server host 10.0.0.1 public

That may help

Start a snmp debug on the router using the 'debug snmp packet' command. Then fire up solarwinds and try to connect. See if the debug produces any output to confirm that the packets are being received and replies are being sent back. It that looks good, check for any firewall or access-lists blocking the replies on the return path of the packets to the NMS.
