SNMP support on 3550 and 3750 hardware

Hello, I am noticing that our 3550 and 3750 equipment either do not seem to work as expected with or do not respond to some of the portEntry oids referenced in the CISCO-STACK-MIB. The two that are frustrating me are portName and portAdditionalOperStatus.

portAdditionalOperStatus does not respond at all so I am not able to determine specifically why an interface might be disabled. portName responds to snmp queries, but the values are always empty regardless of what the interface description is set to. As far as I can tell, there is no other oid I can use to retrieve the portName. I have not had time to go through everything to see if there is an alternative to portAdditionalOperStatus.

Is there at least another way for me to set a name per interface, so that the portName oid will work? It's strange that the oid responds to queries but is always blank.

As a rule of thumb, CISCO-STACK-MIB is for CatOS devices.

Try ifAlias (1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.18) and see if you get the equivalent of portName.

That worked, thanks.
