SNMP v3 and OID feilf in LMS SNMP set/walk in LMS 2.5.1
I have upgraded my LMS package and with this new featur on SNMP when I try to use snmp v3 on my devices that supports it and start the SNMP set and walk, it asks me about the OID value for the L3 3560 switch and a Cisco router 3825 router that i am trying to set the SNMP v3 parameters.
althoughI know what OID s are literally but I don't know if I can see them or how to knaow about the string of numbers (dotted decimal). I guess my question is how to get this OID values for those devices and any thougts on setting up SNMP v3 will be greatly appreciated.
Re: SNMP v3 and OID feilf in LMS SNMP set/walk in LMS 2.5.1
The SNMP Set and Walk tools within the CiscoWorks Device Center are there for troubleshooting only. You should not be using them for general polling purposes. That said, you can use the SNMP translate tools at http://jaguar.ir.miami.edu/~marcus/snmptrans.html or http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseOID.do?local=en to track down SNMP objects. Note: the built-in SNMP tools also have quite a few MIBs loaded, so you don't need to use OIDs. Object names should work as well. There are no differences between OIDs used in SNMPv1/v2c and SNMPv3.
