snmpset: Agent reported error with variable #1.

I find a few CatOS 8.4.4 cat6k's are returning "snmpset: Agent reported error with variable #1." to the following:

snmpset -c snmp-write-community-string switch-name .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.1.55.xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx OctetString switch-name.config

where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP addr of the tftp server.

When I ran the above snmpset commands manually against one of these switches, the first attempt delivered only 34kb of the total of over 400kb of config. Running snmpset a second time got the full switch config to the tftp server.

Against other problem switches, however, I keep getting "snmpset: Agent reported error with variable #1." on manual attempts.

I know OLD-CISCO-SYS-MIB is deprecated (on both CatOS and IOS? This link only mentions IOS: http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/Bugtool/onebug.pl?bugid=CSCdk33879), but that's another subject.

For CatOS, you may want to use the CISCO-STACK-MIB. Check this out:
