SNMPv3 with IP Base IOS

Does the 12.3 IOS IP Base feature set disallow SNMPv3 with md5/sha encryption?

No, you need an image with crypto support.

The "k" inidcator in the image name indicates crypto (3DES, ssh, ssl, snmpv3 - see http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps5460/products_qanda_item09186a00801af2c6.shtml ).

So without the crypto support SNMPv3 is unavailable with md5/sha encryption? Grrr...

Hope I'm not the only one that's ticked by Cisco not having security features available by default in IOS. HP provides it all with the Procurve line of products.
