Software Distribution - Erase startup-config on flash

I use RME software distribution for updating the IOS on our C3500XL-EN and C2950G switches.

If there is not enough space on flash RME erase the whole flash, but save only the vlan.dat!

The config.text will not be saved...

I hoped that this circumstance will be fixed with LMS 2.6, I'm afraid not!

Is there a failture in the device packege?

Perhaps I use the wrong packege?!?

Re: Software Distribution - Erase startup-config on flash

There was a problem updating the configuration for certain switches. This should have been fixed in RME 4.0.4, and thus will be fixed in LMS 2.6. Beyond that, I have not heard of any problems restoring the configuration on IOS switches after a SWIM job.

If after upgrading to LMS 2.6 you still see a problem with missing configurations after SWIM jobs run, I recommend you open a TAC Service Request, and provide the SWIM debugging logs.

Re: Software Distribution - Erase startup-config on flash

this is a bug and will be fixed in RME 4.1;

Workaround: do *NOT* check the option "Do not insert new boot commands into configuration file"

as a result the config on the device will be updated with the new boot command and will be rewritten into flash;

If you do not want the boot command in your config file, setup a new NETCONFIG job to delete the commands from config
