Software image deployment issue - Prime Infrastructure

Evening team,
I have a customer who's struggling with issues using SFTP/FTP for remote site IOS upgrades. They're a medical company with 50+ remote clinics, with no remote IT staff. For many of these they run into what appear to be either size or latency issues when trying to upgrade IOS on a switch (and other devices).

Has anyone encountered similar constraints? Are there documented limitations with Prime in these scenarios?

I've had issues in the past using scp.  Current software seems fine.

Any potential for MTU issues?  Can the files be transferred manually without issue?

Personally, I used http as my first choice when doing upgrades.  Fast, and seems to work great on every Cisco device.
