Can anyone point me to a documentation that indicates how to suppress some of the native Syslog messages sent by IOS (ie: ENV when a power supply is found to be faulty, a bad fan, etc)? I?ve read about documentation that indicates that the Embedded Syslog Manager (ESM) can be used to filter Syslog messages. Is there any other way or means for suppressing (disabling) such native Syslog alerts?

ESM is the way to do this, but it is not supported on CatIOS switches yet. Without ESM, there is no way to filter syslog messages from the device side.

No,
You can tell it not to send syslog for events less then a certain severity level, but there is no way to dissable something like environment syslogs.
Cheers,
