I'm running RME 3.5 with CM 3.3 with the latest IDU's on Windows. I read a refrence to possibly getting RME to sync it's database with CM but the document I have doesn't tell me how. Can someone point me to a document that gives me instructions for this? I've tried searching on the boards and with the Cisco.com search but can't find anything with it.

If you're referring to synchronizing the devices seen by RME and CM, it's just a matter of checking the appropriate boxes in Server Config -> Setup -> ANI Server Admin -> Device Synchronization. However, those two checkboxes sometimes refuse to keep the modified states.

No I think that is to sync the ANI database to RME. I'm looking to sync RME to CM.

No, there's "Synchronize to Essentials" and "Synchronize from Essentials".

"Synchronize to Essentials" is simply for Credentials (i.e. community strings).
The device needs to be discovered by ANI, else it cannot be added to ANI.

Bummer. I always thought it's the whole RME inventory.

Unfortunately, Campus can update RME on new devices and not the other way around.
If you would upgrade to 2.5.1 credentials are stored in one place (DCR), so no need to sync anything out of the box.

I guess the real question is how does the various applications stay in sync in terms of the device database. Campus Manager, I'm guessing here, get's it's device database via the ANI. DFM and RME must get it from somewhere as well. I found how to manually add devices to RME but that's not efficient.

LMS 2.5 changes the way that it works with regards to the various applications and inventories. In LMS 2.5 there is a central Device Credential Repository which manages the devices in the application and shares the devices between each of the pieces of the application.
As in LMS 2.2 each of the components RME, Campus, DFM and IPM all have their own database, but there is more central management and automated sharing between the components.
In LMS 2.2 as you mention each has its own database, and there are actually a few ways to add devices to RME. The first as you mentioned above is to manually add them one by one, however, you can also add them via a csv file, remote NMS or sync from Campus Manager.

So that comes back to the original question. Can you link me documentation to synk from CM? I read some refrences to it but no directions.

Server Config -> Setup -> ANI Server Admin -> Device Synchronization

Under the Device Synchronization menu:
Use the first tab: To Essentials, check all 3 boxes and click apply
Wait a few minutes for the synchronizing to finish. In the 3rd tab, Status log, you can see how far
the process is going, if it's successful or not.
Click on Log Details before you run the sync so you can see all the devices being transferred into
RME.
Then in RME->Administration->Inventory->Import Status to see the devices that were inputted into
the database successfully.

The user guide for CM 3.3 documents the procedure here: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/cscowork/ps563/products_user_guide_chapter09186a008017b435.html
