My current Syslog Buffer is 4096 bytes. The 1801 (fixed) is a Gateway router for a small LAN(4 PC's)has a light work load. To what level I can safely increase my buffer without impacting performance.

I'd say you can safely increase this to 1048576 (1 MB) which should be more than enough for one day's worth of messages. However, since you are already logging messages to a syslog server, why do you want a large on-router buffer?

Thanks for your reply. Reason for for larger buffer is syslog server is not on 24X7.
