syslog.log growing uncontrollably?

I have a problem where the syslog.log file (in the ciscoworks log directory) grows to a huge size and then crashes ciscoworks because disk space has run out.

Is there a way to automatically limit the size of syslog.log?

Yes, you should be using logrot, which is in the CSCOpx\bin directory. On-line help is available for logrot.

Thanks! that did the job.

Can I ask how you ran the logrot utility?? What switches if any did you use?

/opt/CSCOpx/bin/logrot.pl -c will launch the configuration utility. Ensure you save all changes before you exit.

Then run the utility simply by running:

/opt/CSCOpx/bin/logrot.pl

I have mine running nightly via cron:

/opt/CSCOpx/bin/logrot.pl >> /var/adm/CSCOpx/log/logrot
