TFTP Backup

Hi friends,

we have the TFTP server, with that iam able to backup the configuration of routers and switches.

But with the same TFTP iam able to take backup of other devices. what might be the problem with those switches and routers.

even through hyperterminal iam unable to take the backup. iam getting error as

%Error opening tftp:// (Timed out).

Pls suggest how to back up and what might be the problem with config which is resticting.

TFTP Backup

Have you verified the tftp server is reachable frm the problematic devices?

The most likely situation would be an access list betwen your device and the tftp server. UDP port 69 needs to be allowed end to end.

TFTP Backup

Well since you've eliminated the most common problems, one must dig deeper. I would run a capture (Wireshark or tcpdump) on the tftp server while attempting the backup to validate the requests are arriving properly.

What type of device is giving the problems? I ask because some classes of device require additional tweaking to set source interface for tftp or potentially use a management vrf for such operations.
