Tivolio Messages and HSRP

I have 2 6513 routers running HSRP with Tivolio management software. We are getting a message trap the as the following:

router1: NV trap 58785796 (HSRPADD_EV):HRSP 192.168.100.1 now the active interface of group 0:

Has anyone seen this before? We seem to be generating echo messages on our network.

We like to prove that there is nothing wrong with the Cisco IOS settings.

Re: Tivolio Messages and HSRP

Hi

What Tivoli Netview is telling you, is that it has discovered a new HSRP interface on the router.

Here is the description of the trap from the Tivoli NetView manual:

Number, Name, and Fields and Condition

Description

----------------------------------------------------

58785796 Descr field

HSRPADD_EV HSPR interface added

Hot Standby Router

Protocol (HSRP) Data field

interface added Contains the following:

- Time stamp

- Node objid

Condition

An HSRP IP address is discovered by netmon.

Best regards

The format of the trap definition was not shown correct, so here it is again (see the GIF file).

Re: Tivolio Messages and HSRP

John,

We did find this information before I posted.

The message seems to be generating lots of packets on the interface. I was wondering how to lessen the packets.
