Dear Netpro,

We have a customer who currently wants to be able to monitor their switches. We already monitor them through solarwinds as their IT supplier. They already have MRTG running for monitoring their 2 x 100 Mbps LES circuits on the 2621 XMs

We are suggesting solarwinds as one of the options, but the cost may an issue, they have the following;

2 x 3550-48-EMI

1 x 3550-12G-EMI

4 x 3500XL (48 ports)

2 x 2621 XM routers

so 316 ports to monitor !

Requirements

*Be able to set users thresholds on port utilisation and notify via email if breached.

*has a dashboard layout if problems need to be investigated.

*is VERY simple to use!

*has syslog function

*can be used by multiple users, up to 4 it support staff.

*has some form of graphing utilising to look at stats

*has some ability to measure QoS as being used by Avaya phone system.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I always rate helpful posts.

Best Regards, Adrian.

The Cisco NAMs enable network managers to gain visibility into all layers of network traffic by providing application-level Remote Monitoring (RMON) based on RMON2 and other advanced MIBs. For more info refer

Hi,

This only seems to support high-end switches such as the 6500's. Is there any support for the lower end switches such as the 3550's?

thanks again.

regards, Adrian.
