Why does Cisco have so many different messages?

These are the different messages I've found so far for Fan Failures-

SYS 2 FAN_FAIL *

SYS 2 PS_FANFAIL *

SYS 2 PS_NFANFAIL *

FAN 3 FAN_FAILED *

This tells me Cisco isn't managed/controlled worth a !@#$%!!!!

No it means that you don't have a clue about the physical locations of the fans within the different models of equipment.

Some have fans that are integral with the power supplies.

Some have single fans (like the ISR's and 2600's)

Some have fan modules

Each report differently than just a simple "fan failed".

I'll go ahead and put my foot in my mouth now!!!

'Guess I was trying to vent some frustration and I decided to do it electronically.

Something I or no one should ever do........

Re: Why does Cisco have so many different messages?

It depends on the platform and the type of fan in use.
