Changing optical cards from 1550 to 1310

We have an ONS-15454, OC-48, UPSR ring that we need to change the optical cards between 2 nodes. We will be going from the OC-48, 1550 LR to the OC-48, 1310 IR.  Would making this change be as simple as deleting the 1550 LR cards at each node, then installing the 1310 IR cards?  Just want to make sure before we attempt this and possibly bringing down our network.

Curt,

When changing a OC-48 1550 LR to an OC48 1310 IR you do not need to delete and re-add the card.  As long as both cards have the same port count, simply swap them out.

If the cards have a different port count, you need to follow the procedure below.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/optical/15000r9_0/15454/sonet/procedure/guide/454a90_upgcardspan.html#wp1132039

BTW - You cannot delete a card until all underlying services have been deleted.

For example, All circuits, DCC, timing has to be de-provisioned before the card can be deleted.

Hope this helps,
