CTC on Vista

Has anyone been able to get CTC to work on Windows Vista? If so How?

Speaking from the folks here in the Optical TAC. Vista is not supported. And we have also not seen any customers that have been succesful at getting it to work.

Windows Vista is supported with R8.5

In terms of making CTC from an older version work with Windows Vista, this is non-trivial as Vista support is very hard. There are at least 5 versions; code changes and testing were needed.

We just did an install for a client yesterday.

All XP systems worked great.

OSX worked Great

Vista cannot complete the download via java.

Java version is JRE 5

Any thoughts?

Here is what we found to work in our network (Vista desktops, ONS software 4.1.6)

Install Firefox and the appropriate SUN JRE.

Find the Firefox executable on your workstation and right click on its properties. In the compatability tab, click 'Run this program in compatability mode for' and choose Windows XP Service Pack 2.

Now, Firefox can be used to open CTC and manage the network in Vista.
