IBM Datapower XI52 will transmit only to 5K switch but works on 7k

Hi

We have multiple IBM Datapower XI52 boxes, with fiber conenctions.

We can get transmit only, no receive talking to a 5k Switch, but if i move the same transceiver and cable to a 7k switch it works fine, and we can connect, transmit, receive, and ping.

is this a known issue?

XI52 : Firmware 5.0.0.8

Cisco 5k switch

BIOS : 1.5.0

System: version 5.1(3)N2(1b)

Image file : bootflash:///n5000-uk9-kickstart.5.1.3.N2.1b.bin

Cisco 7k switch

BIOS : 3.22.0

System : version 6.1(3)

Image file : bootflash:///n7000-s1-kickstart.6.1.3.bin

Thanks
Lee

It could be a transceiver compatibility issue. What transceiver model are you using at the switch end?

We use identical transceiver make and model at both ends (cisco) , and we move the transceiver from the 5k switch to the 7k switch and it works there too.

Transceiver compatibility with the NX-OS, not with the distant end. Different transceiver types are compatible with different OS levels.

The transceivers on both ends are

Cisco : SFP-10G-SR

Hmm. Those are pretty standard transceivers and should work fine.

Can you confirm the port operating correctly on the 5k - perhaps by connecting it on a new VLAN to the 7k? That would isolate the problem domain.
