Q1. Am I understanding the concept correctly? The IP packet is encpsulated by PPP and the frame makes up the entire SPE. In otherwords, there are no virtual circuits channilized within the SPE?

Q2. What devices (MSPP ?) other than routers would have a PoS interface.

Q3. What type of topologies and/or scenarios would you use PoS?

In repsonse to Q2, yes the 15454 MSPP's have a POS interface internal to their ML100 and ML1000 cards. They can be an efficient way to integrate some Ethernet circuits onto a multiservice backbone. A full set of features is available as the cards actually run IOS. One also realizes the SONET layer 50 ms switching protection for Ethernet circuits.
