POS is a point-to-point connection. There are no monitoring interfaces provided on POS linecards. For this purpose an external optical splitter may be used.
Yes. You are right. We also use an optical splitter ADC Communications in our network for PoS line cards and for GE line cards monitoring. It's very usefull and acommodative manner for monitoring without interription.
