QAM to GigE Possiblity

We currently have multiple fiber nodes that get re-combined say 4-1/2-1 back to the D-Hub and plug into 7246 VXR's with MC-16 cards. We have been having lots of problems with the combined "noise" from all the nodes coming back and hitting the upstream ports. We are thinking of a way to add a card into the fiber nodes that will talk directly with the 7246 via GigE Switch instead of QPSK/16QAM eliminating the noise from the cable plant and combining. Would Cisco/Engineer care to comment on this? We hope to remove the bottleneck from the upstream port on the VXR and move it out to the fiber node in the field.
