Signal loss detection GLC-LH-SM with X2-10GB-LR question.

Hello.

I have a SM fiber run betwixt two X2-10GB-LRs. One side is seeing Rx power that could be better. I suspect the loss is somewhere in the fiber run but I dont have equipment to terminate the fiber with X2-10GB-LRs at various parts of the fiber run to isolate where the loss is occurring. I do have plenty of GLC-LH-SM gear.

If I were to terminate this fiber with two GLC-LH-SMs would the GLC-LH-SMs see the same Rx loss as the X2-10GB-LRs the with the 'sho int trans' command?

Thanks

You will be able to use two GLC-LH-SM transceivers to do some fiber troubleshooting.  Try to use the same transceivers at each test point, because individual transceivers of the same type will have slightly different output powers,

This worked. The GLC-LZ-SMs reported the same signal loss at the production TEs. Turned out to be wonky patch cables. Thanks, jb.
