2 Unity's on 1 CM Cluster

Is it possible to have 2 Unity systems on a sinle Call Manager cluster? One system with Unified Messaging and the second with Voice Mail only. If so, what caveats are there?<br><br>Thanks,<br><br>Steve Radogna

That should be fine. Unity won't care and CCM won't care. To send callers to respective Unity servers when they hit the "messages" button, you'll have a couple of options. Here is something that Keith had posted earlier..

a. You can give both of the voicemail servers the same DN but put the in different partitions. You would then assign the appropriate calling search space to the user's line.
b. You can use translation patterns with partitions and calling search spaces to translate the number the messages key is dialing to the pilot point for the appropriate voicemail DN.

If you go the translation pattern route your users should get in the habit of dialing the appropriate voicemail DN for VM or UM as opposed to the voicemail number setup in Service Parameters. Your users'll have to dial the appropriate VM DN if they have non-IP phones and when dialing in externally.

This isnt necessary if you use Calling Search Spaces and Partitions on the CallManager.

Here is what you need to do:

1) Create a Translation Pattern that translates the 'Messages' DN to the actual Unity Pilot number. Create two of these Translations, one for each Unity server

2) Assign the translation pattern for both Unitys to different partitions

3) Create 2 calling search spaces, in each CSS only choose one of the Partitions you created in step 2

4) Assign the appropriate calling search space to the users of each Unity server.

If you are unfamiliar with CSS's and Partitions, read the link below, everything will begin to make sense.

For the record this gets much easier in CallManager 3.2 with the new voicemail profiles. That is still about a month off however.
