2 Unity Servers, 1 CM cluster and 1 External DDI Number.

Hi,

A customer already has a CM cluster (v 3.1.4b) and 1 Unity server (v 3.1.5) and one external access number.

Now a second Unity server is required since the first server has reached the supported number of subscribers.

The 2 servers will be part of the same AD domain and part of the same Dialling Domain - therefore the subscribers homed to each Unity server will be accessible to those homed to the other server and vice versa.

Will it be possible for any subscriber to use the one DID external number to access their voicemails, by pressing * and logging in at the 'Welcome to Cisco Unity' prompt, regardless of which Unity is their home server?

Will the Unity server that is the target of the DDI number handle the call or pass it to the home server of the subscriber?

Or have I got it completely wrong?

Cheers

Graeme

Hi Graeme -

I copied this excerpt from Cisco's Digital Networking Guide - the same information is included in both the Unity 3.1(2) and Unity 4.0 guides:

To check their messages, subscribers must dial the Cisco Unity server that they are associated with. You need to tell subscribers the correct number to dial when calling into Cisco Unity. Additionally, if you use easy message access, each subscriber phone must be set to call the Cisco Unity server with which the subscriber is associated. Here is the link to the entire document (see last page):
