3.1.1 installation

I have a question for you, when installing a Unity component server can SQL and the remaining part of the Unity setup be installed without making the Unity server a domain member. We are preconfiguring a Unity server which is presently a workgroup member. <br><br>According to the 3.1 Installation Guide on page 2-25 : The Cisco Unity must either be a member server in an existing domain or a domain controller. <br><br>Can the Unity server be placed into the domain after the server is shipped to site and all software loaded beforehand?<br><br><br><br><br><br>

Re: 3.1.1 installation

you can't completely preconfigure Unity in this scenario. You can install the OS, SQL and Unity part 1... that's as far as you can go before you get on site. Once you're on site you have to add the box to a domain or dcpromo it to a DC and then run part 2 setup (configuration setup) to connect to the customer's exchange server (assuming you're doing off box).

You can't install Exchange on box unless you're in a domain regardless so if you're looking at an on box install of Exchange you have to do that on site once part of the domain as well. If you installed Unity with Exchange as a DC or a member of a domain in your lab and you tried to move it, Exchange would hit the floor like a ton of brick and you'd be out of luck.
