3.1 sizing for large site

Just wondering how to properly size a large install for 1200 users. I notice that the max port density is 32-40. Is that per server or can you have more than 40 on a single server. If 40 is the limit I assume you keep adding servers till your requirements are met.

Next, is there a basic ratio of users to ports to start with?

Finally, as far as redundancy goes; If I have 3 Unity boxes and a CM cluster of 3 servers. Can one single Unity server sit there waiting in failover for any of the other 3 Unity boxes to fail?

Thanks,

Paul.

Actually Unity 3.1 can support up to 72 ports. Check out this URL:

Unity does not support clustering but does support failover. Check out this URL:

As for port sizing, I would suggest you take a look at the customers current system. Many factors such as users, transfer type, message length, auto attendant, MWI, VMO, Text to Speech, type of business, etc can affect the number of ports required.
