Hello Unity team,
is getting TTS to read the Name in the From field something that is on the roadmap? If so, when can we expect to see it?
Thanks

It's being discussed but I don't know if it's on the roadmap (I'll go ask at the court of the product folks - I am but a lowly engineer).
I had also thought of making a clever tool that just ripped through the dirctory and made a voice name based on everyone's display name and stuff it into the voice name property of the subscribers.
The issue at hand is licensing however. For sites that don't have TTS licenses that would present a bit of a problem. Since licenseing is done per session (that's enforced by the vendors, not us) our behavior would be a little interesting in a case where all sessions were currently being used and we needed to generate a voice name. Probably not a huge deal but we have to be careful.
That and the current TTS engines sometimes make some real interesting attempts at proper names. In general the RealSpeak engine does an OK job here but occasionally it just mangles a name. There are engines out there optimized for this type of thing (i.e. their dictionaries contain proper grammars for all names in the last US census) that would be a better fit here.
I think I saw this on the (rather huge) list of stuff from the product team but I have no clue where it would fall on the roadmap. The best I can suggest is to make sure your account team opens a PERS for this (that's where the product folks get much of their priority ranking info for stuff like this).
I still have the "voice name generation" tool on my investigation list - not the perfect solution since you'd need to run it on your own after creating users and the like but better than nothing.
