4224 FastEthernet port

I know this is the VoIP forum, but the 4224 is a VoIP gateway, so I am asking it here. There are 24 FastEthernet ports plus 1 FastEthernet management port. The management port is FastEthernet 0/0 and the others are FastEthernet 5/1 through 5/24. However I noticed that I have a FastEthernet 5/0 also. What is that for?

Re: 4224 FastEthernet port

Don't configure it, it's not really there. :-)

Seriously, I don't know why it shows up and I don't know of any bugs as to why it's there, so unless I find one I have to assume it's there for a reason. But I have not ever had to do anything to it and doing so does not seem to have any effect on anything. If I find anything else out I will post it.

Re: 4224 FastEthernet port

Good, because I did a 'no interface fastethernet 5/0' command and even though it gave me an error, it's gone out of my viewable config. It still shows up though if the config is tftp'd somewhere.
