4500 UM users

We require a 4500 user UM system, - is it advisable to split this requirement over two servers or is it ok to stick this on one box. If we did use two servers as part of the same Exchange organisation and site would we be able to transfer messages between them or do we need additional networking s/w i.e would we have to treat this as 2 seperate Unity systems.

UM or VM would both play out the same...

Unity allows a maximum of 72 ports. 4500/72 gives you 63 users per port. If that ratio meets the needs of you organization than one server will work for you. If you need more ports you will need to go with two servers.

Two servers can be digitally networked together. While this isn't the same as having all users on the same server the functionality is pretty decent. Check out the Digital Networking Overview:
