Would 50,000 users at one location(university),require multiple sites? or could several Unity servers be "clustered"?

Sprint/IP Telephony

you'd need more than one Unity server to handle 50,000 users if that's what you're asking. This can be done, roughly, by adding multiple users into the same "dialing domain" such that everyone could be found by name/id for internal and external callers, transfers and the like. There are some limitations to this model, however. Namely that audio text applications don't replicate around to each server.

The NetworkingOverview2001.doc on the AnswerMonkey general tools site goes over the details/limitations of such a deployment. You should probably start there to get a handle on what you're wanting to do.
