Trying to find out a general consensus. We are looking at deploying a 6509 with the following cards.
What my worry is we are using this 6509 as a gateway to the PSTN and to an old Nortel 81C. Being this is a voice gateway for the PSTN and our voice core which will uplink to the rest of our routed core I was thinking about getting rid of the Fire Wall Module and using ASA 5550 in a redudant mode. I've had other integrators tell me they have had problems with the FWSM modules causing there voice gateways to reboot.
The CMM blades do have their issues from time to time. Cisco has been pretty good about releasing newer code to fix odd issues. I know a year ago, the CMM was still a little buggy. We have twin 6509s at our core with CMM's in each. CAS T1s to legacy PBX and PRI's out to the PSTN, also MGCP to CallManager.... so far, so good. We did have an issue with the CAS T1's locking channels, but found a new release of software that fixed this.
I would love to be able to ping you about your CMM install. We are looking at possible returning 6 CMM blades and use 3845's We have been going back and forth on how buggy the CMM's have been in the past.
