Does anyone know if a 6608 module (configured as a PRI) will "by default" set DSCP values for control traffic and RTP stream or does this have to be done via ACLs?

Hi James,
The Catalyst switch will indeed treat the 6608 internal ports as trust-cos. For that reason, the 6608 marks RTP packets with an internal CoS value os 5. In addition, the default cos-to-dscp mapping is to map CoS=5 to DSCP=40.
Regards,
Mike.

Thank you for the response. I am being told by Cisco that the 6608 does not mark traffic and that ACLs are required.
Another question, since traffic from the PSTN has no CoS value does the 6608 remark all traffic coming from the PSTN to Cos of 5 (control and media)? Can you point me to supporting documentation on this?

Hi -
I agree with Mike, the 6608 automatically sets the proper CoS values and the 6509 (with a PFC card) trusts the values.
I cant find any supporting documentation though.....
