7940G handset does not respond when answering a call

I have had over 20 phones that I had to replaced over the past year that will not answer a call with the hand set. I can answer a call with the speaker key everytime but when I pick up the handset it does not repsond. Is anyone else having this problem. I have reset the phones to default settings and I have tried different software loads and it does not help.

Hi Nick,

I am just guessing here, but it seems like you are running into a common problem with the Hookswitch mechanism in Cisco phones. Have a look at the following doc:

The recommended method has never worked for me, but the phones can be RMA'd.
